The Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker

June 5, 2014

Ever since Spring rolled around, we’ve learned that Maine has got a stunningly superb bird population. We’ve seen everything from the Indigo Bunting to the Scarlet Tanager to the Baltimore Oriole. Since we’ve got a lot of color and activity outside because of all Laura’s bird feeders, I decided to add a new category on this blog called, “Birds.” Laura takes tons of pictures of our little friends, so any time you’re interested in seeing pictures of them, just click over there. The link is to the right and down.

The first bird I’m going to post is called the Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker. From what I understand, this fellow or fellow-ette is rather challenging to capture on camera. In the pictures I’ll post below, the bird was actually quite difficult to see. I had to use Photoshop to do some cropping, just so you can glimpse what it looks like. If you’re interested in learning about the Sapsucker’s habitat and behavior, click here. Now, for those pictures…
