For those who don’t know me, I’m involved in a lot of things. First and foremost, I’m a writer. I can’t stop writing. I write all day on the many websites I own and manage. Writing is in my soul and I honestly don’t see a time when that will stop being. I’m also a photographer and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. In a few months, I’ll be a blackbelt in BJJ. That’s a huge milestone, if you aren’t aware because you’re not involved in the Jiu-Jitsu world. I’m also into a heck of a lot of other things, such as playing the guitar (or learning how to play) and a number of other activities that I can’t remember off the top of my head. Camping is something I’m getting back into and that’s actually the impetus for launching this brand new website. I love camping and I haven’t done it in years, until recently.
Here’s a short story for you. Last weekend, I went cold weather camping with my lady and my friend. It was bitter cold outside and there were about two and a half feet of snow on the ground, but it was marvelous. It reminded me of how much I love being outside. After all, I do own just over 15 acres of the most beautiful property you’ve ever seen. Why not use it? It’s got a brook and a stream that borders two of its boundaries. It’s a stunning piece of land in Maine.
I grew up outdoors. I climbed trees as a child and came crawling back inside only when my mother yelled for me with that tone in her voice. The one that said I was in trouble. I couldn’t get enough. Finding or building forts was always a big part of my childhood. I used to love doing that. My family brought me camping every single summer until I was 17 years old. I loved those times as well. These are all things that gave me motivation to begin this blog. I guess the fact that I can’t stop writing didn’t hurt.
On the following pages, I’ll share tons of things with you. I’ll likely start off with explaining how to go about tying a few knots, because I recently ordered what’s referred to as the “Encyclopedia of Knots.” I believe it offers instructions for tying over 100 different knots, so I’ll be passing on any knowledge I pick up from that. Beyond the knots, I’ll be discussing camping gear, survival and bushcraft equipment and ideas as well as anything else that has to do with hiking, riding and other outdoor activities. I’m looking forward to it.
One last thing. In a few days, after I get this part of things set up, I’ll be launching a forum on this domain. It’s going to be awesome and I can’t wait to get it off the ground. I currently operate four other forums and I’ve recently fallen in love with them. Outdoor forums are exceedingly popular, so I’m thrilled to jump into the fray.
Welcome aboard!
