Today is May 1st. I’ve been waiting for this day because I think it may be the very first day of my life where I’ve been able to touch snow – in the Month of May. Never before have I lived in an area that offers such cool temperatures as to give me the pleasure of dreaming about snowmobiling in Spring. Of course I’m being a bit facetious here, but I’ll be honest when I say that Sam, from up the road, just told us last week that you could still snowmobile in parts of the woods. He said that there is a good foot of snow in places. And he knows, because he’s in the woods all the time and Sam doesn’t strike me as the type of guy to go around telling stories. If Sam says it, I believe it.
Here’s a picture to show what we’ve got left out in front of the house.
A good portion of that snow pile is ice and that’s why it’s taking so long to melt. It’s also in the shade for most of the day. We had similar piles on the other side of the property that have already melted because of the sun.
You want to see something funny? The same time the snow is melting, we’ve got small patches of green grass growing. Weird.
