Yesterday was a huge day with gardening. I purchased four bags of Sta-Green Garden Soil and a papaya tree. Papaya is one of my favorite fruit and after learning a bit about it yesterday, I discovered that it’s really easy to grow. All you need is seeds, good soil and a lot of heat. You need heat all year though, so I’m crossing my fingers that we’ll have a warm winter.
I received my nursery pots as well. I ordered 26 three gallon pots and 10 seven gallon ones. I thought the seven gallon pots would be bigger, but they worked for what I wanted. I needed to get the orange, lemon and peach trees out of the ground. I think this sandy soil was sucking the life out of them. I decided that a while in some really nice soil would do them better than having all their moisture being absorbed by the surrounding earth.
I put my blueberry bush into a bigger pot, I planted a mulberry tree, transplanted the papaya tree into a seven gallon pot and planted some peas. I also planted some papaya and cabbage seeds. Lastly, we put the butterfly bush and the jasmine we received in the mail into the soil. Good stuff.
I know this post was quick, but I really just needed to get what we did yesterday out of my head so we could move on with today’s work. She’s mentioned a few things that I’ve already forgotten. I’ll post yesterday’s pictures below.
