My friend Seth came to visit Laura and me this weekend. What fun. In the day and a half, we didn’t do a lot, but we did get a chance to accomplish a few things.
Okay, I’ll give you a rundown of what happened. Seth got here around 10PM Friday night. I already had the fire going in the back yard. Since I had the fire ring stocked pretty solidly and covered for at least a month, the fire was a bit large. I had a worry or two float through my mind. Good thing nothing went wrong.
Seth brought a bunch of good micro-brew beer. We sat on the bench I set up and drank. Laura came out and drank with us. This lasted until about 2:30 in the morning. Gorgeous night too – clear in the high 40s. Here is our setup:
Laura slept inside while Seth and I slept in my tent. A little chilly, but we both had sleeping bags (his better than mine). I had plenty of blankets though. I’m glad I got a chance to use my tent. I bought it years back and have yet to use it. Being an 8 man tent, we had plenty of space.
When we woke up, we ate breakfast and then Seth and I drove down to Ron’s Market in Farmington. Apparently, Ron has the best assortment of beer on the planet. We both bought some good stuff and left. We drove up to Wire Bridge in New Portland (I’ll write about that next). I’ve been wanting to visit this bridge and I figured this was as good a time as any. Awesome bridge.
After we came back to the house, we ate more and then Seth, Sam and I took a hike in the woods up the road. We went all the way up to the cemetery and to the point where there’s a bit of a view. You can see the cemetery in this post and the view in this post.
When we got back, we played some horseshoes where Seth beat Laura and me by the slightest of margins. 21 to 7. He probably cheated somehow, but enough about that.
We drank more beer and then went for a walk up one of the neighboring roads, until we were too tired to continue. We came back, made another fire, talked and fell asleep in the tent again. Then we woke up and swam in the pool until Seth left. He says he wants to come back. He had a relaxing weekend.
Until next time Seth!
