Alright, I’ve already released three parts of a story I wrote a long time ago into the wild. There are thirty two parts to it in all and initially, each part was named, 1, 2, 3, etc…But now that I’m posting the parts here on this blog, I felt I had to give them better names, hence the “The Mattress,” “My Father” and “The Old Man.”
I wrote this story back in Autumn of 2011. I spent about a week shut in my upstairs room in Connecticut, writing, writing and writing away. When I was finished with it, I let it sit and then after that, I sent each part, one by one, to my mother for editing. She would send each part back with her corrections and edits, I would review them, keep her changes or change some of what she had done back to what I originally had and then copy/paste the altered part into the main story. My mother did a great job, considering her task wasn’t to change or suggest additions to what I was writing. Which I’m sure was very difficult because my mother is a person who fixes things. So even if what I sent her stunk, she still went ahead and let me do my thing. Thanks mom.
Like I said above, there are thirty two parts. Back in 2011, my mother and I finished up about twenty of them. That means there are still twelve hanging out there in never land. And the last twelve parts are the ones with punch. What you’ll read between part one and twenty are mild. What you’ll read in the last twelve will (hopefully) make you think.
I hope you’ll really get a kick out of what I’ve written, especially if you’re from my home town. You know me, my father, my brother and quite possibly the old man. And if you do know the old man, you’ll perhaps see him in a whole new light after we’re through here.
