Joby GP2-D1EN Gorillapod Flexible Tripod

July 4, 2011

The full name is “Joby GP2-D1EN Gorillapod Flexible Tripod for Digital SLR Cameras with Bubble Level.” I picked up two of the SLR versions because they can handle more weight than the lighter version.

As you may have noticed, I am getting more into video. It’s very fun and I figured that a tripod might reduce some of the “shake” that goes on when the zoom is used. The reason I got two is because I didn’t want to be left tripod-less if the video camera was in use when I needed a tripod for my camera. The reason I got this model in particular is because it includes a bubble level. A handy feature indeed.

These things are pretty cool. They are flexible desktop tripods. Well, here’s a nice description for you…

Joby Gorillapods – Put the Camera Exactly Where You Want It

I used one of these tripods to take some video. It worked well, but I wish I had some sort of a movement ball at the neck of the tripod (available on more expensive models) so when I zoom and follow something, I don’t have to move the entire unit. But, for still pictures or video that you don’t have to chase around, this is perfect.

Here are some nice pictures I took of some of the components:
