This is a Jiu Jitsu submission I can’t seem to pull off. I have been working on it for a few months now and it’s been nothing but frustrating. It’s called the “Triangle Choke from Bottom.”
Here’s a video of the move:
Triangle Choke from Bottom Cross Side Control
After watching this video, it’s become apparent that I am just not getting my top leg tight enough on the neck. I also don’t think my body is perpendicular enough with my opponent’s. I actually tried this submission today on one of our bigger guys and he did tap out. It was only afterwards that I was informed that he tapped because he felt like his head was going to explode. Not good submission technique, especially for a choke.
I am going to give this one another go, especially because I’ve become quite proficient at fighting from the bottom. I love the feeling of letting someone think they are in control. Once their confidence is high, I come out like a viper and strike. Yes, you read that correctly…a VIPER and STRIKE.
