About a year back, I started watching videos of Ryan Hall and Marcelo Garcia. After learning who these guys were and what they could do, I told myself that I wanted to play my Jiu-Jitsu game like them. They’re fluid and smart. They’re flexible and fast. I like that because the same type of style seems to be somewhat natural for me. I’m thin and not too strong and I don’t have a huge pressure game. I suppose I could, but I think that would wear me out. I prefer creativity and trickery over pressure.
When I saw the audio only interview with Ryan Hall today on Facebook, I jumped at the chance to listen to it. And it didn’t disappoint. He talks about his background a bit and his competition style. He talks about a bunch more too, but you’ll have to listen to it for that. Check it out. Stephen Kesting of GrappleArts does the interviewing. If you want to read the transcript, you can do that here.
