Getting My Windows Tinted

June 20, 2013

As I was driving north on 95 Tuesday afternoon, I ran into a little problem. I’m not sure if it’s because the sun has been higher in the sky lately or if it was just sunnier – period, but what I am sure of was the feeling of heat roasting my poor little arm. I didn’t get sunburned, but I did get concerned from the possibilities. The possibility of sun damage to my skin as well as the possibility of being lopsided with having only one brown arm.

When I purchased my car way back in October of 2008 up in Connecticut, the sun wasn’t much of a concern. I think all X5s come with the rear windows tinted from the factory – but the two fronts were left bare. We northerners don’t care too much about sun protection. It wasn’t until the drive on Tuesday did I start thinking of getting the two remaining windows done. Purely for the UV barrier that 3M window tint offers. Aesthetics aside, it was the UV I cared most about.

I called two window tinting outfits to see what they could offer me. The first one told me they could do the two front windows for $60, but that they had no time until next week. That wasn’t going to work out for me because I wanted this finished quickly. The second place called, “A Filtered Sun” answered, gave me the same price of $60 and said he could have it done tomorrow (today). That worked out better for me.

I went in today, had the two front windows tinted and left. Easy as that. It took about a half hour and was very professional. I’d say they did a great job too, considering they had to match the new tint with the factory installed stuff. It looks good. I’m going to post some pictures below, but just in case you’re interested in getting your windows done, I can tell you that I had a good experience with this place. Give them a call at 386-586-0006.

You should have just done it yourself, you had plenty of experience from your numerous tint jobs on every car you had . Camaro came out good 20 years ago.

My dear Anthony. My old tint may have looked good to a 16 year old, but not to someone my age. I was actually laughing with the guy yesterday when I told him that I tried tinting my first car in January. There was ice in between the tint and the glass.

I remember that. What about the pinstripe on the window? You should do that now too! HA!
