I wrote a post this morning alluding to an exciting future for this blog. After I wrote the post, I emailed Jeff and told him that the face of Jiu-Jitsu photography will be changed forever.
Perhaps I get a bit too excited about things. Perhaps I jump the gun or put the cart before the horse…or perhaps I’M ONTO SOMETHING!!!
Check this out. I did some quick screen shots of one of my BJJ rolls with Chris and after only a few minutes, I pulled out one nice sequence of events. It’s a shoulder roll into guard into a sloppy hip bump. If you look at these pictures, I think you’ll quickly see the potential of doing things this way. I explained this afternoon that I won’t have to bring my camera into class, ask a third party to take pictures of a technique that I didn’t really want to show, but couldn’t think of anything else to do. Now, the techniques will come to me in a way that’s much more natural.
Let me show you what I’m talking about:
BJJ Shoulder Roll Into Guard Into a Hip Bump
To me, this is huge. There are a few reasons:
1. Image search online is enormous. The more pictures your blog has, the more visitors you have. Actually, impressions for image search eclipses regular web search.
2. I can now stop to explain things. Instead of showing a simple video, I can actually add my commentary using text. Read what I say about text and SEO here to see why that’s important.
So, what do you think?
