I visited this area twice before, once in November 2012 to pick out a house and once in January 2013 to move half my belongings down here. Neither time did I particularly love this place. Both times, it was mostly cloudy and chilly and I didn’t get to see what the feeling was. I just knew it was what I needed to get myself squared away.
Now that I’ve been here for a week, I have to say, it’s a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I’m finding areas that are kind of out of the way and I swear, I could sit in these areas for hours. Take today for instance – I found the beach. Yeah, the beach. Not any beach – an empty beach. There’s a lot of coast line around these parts and while there’s a lot of people on this earth, there aren’t enough of them to crowd the beach I found today. Probably because there’s like 4 people living within ten miles of it. That could be it.
I went to St. Augustine this morning to check out a new Jiu-Jitsu school and on the way back, I planned on stopping by the old town to check out what it was all about. Half way into it, I decided not to. I couldn’t find the branch I was looking for and I realized there are a heck of a lot more people in St. Augustine than I thought there were. I’ll save visiting old town for another time – possibly at midnight. Oh, by the way, there was another bank branch I did find right on A1A, which led me to my next part.
I had also planned on driving down the coast, right next to the ocean, back to Palm Coast. While this is slower then taking 95, I’d say it’s a whole lot more appealing. I keep telling myself that these are chances I need to take advantage of. When’s the next time I’ll be able to drive 15 miles while seeing the Atlantic Ocean to my left?
I did that. I took A1A all the way from St. Augustine to Palm Coast, stopping along the way. I first stopped at the beach and took some nice pictures. Then, I stopped at Publix and got some food and then I stopped at the post office. Weird post office. It was in a gas station. If I had seen the big one in town center, I would’ve gone in there, instead of the one with the strange dude behind the counter in the gas station.
I took a lot of random photos. I also got one of the burrito place on Flagler Beach I bought burritos and fish tacos from last night. Happy Cinco de Mayo (May 5th).
By the way, Crocs work perfectly as water shoes while walking in the sea. They didn’t even flinch.
