As I sit here and write, I am just getting over another one of my famous two day long headaches I earn myself from dehydration. It’s really annoying.
I have done this a few times. It’s not my fault really. It’s my body’s. I am a slender individual who doesn’t get thirsty much. I try to drink water during the day, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. “They” say I should be drinking 80 oz of water a day, but oftentimes I drink none.
Thursday morning was my Muay Thai class. We had stripe testing, so the pace was a little faster than usual. I sweat a lot. I had my usual used plastic bottle somewhat filled with water on the sidelines. I finished about half of it during class. Now, if this was a normal day and I left when we were finished, I would have been fine. It wasn’t normal because my Muay Thai instructor invited me to stay for his Jiu Jitsu class right afterward. I think I would have been fine for that too if I didn’t have a Jiu Jitsu class the night before.
Anyway, the reason I stayed for his Jiu Jitsu class is because there was an open mat. They were just going to spar and I wanted to get in on it. I keep thinking that I should take it easy, but when I get the chance to spar with new guys who are most likely better than me, I have to take it.
I sparred for three five minute matches and did very well. At the end of the three matches, I had to give up because my body wasn’t going to offer any more. All I had to eat that morning was a bagel and that had been burned off on the way down to Muay Thai class.
I guess my point is that I must have sweat a whole lot, because when I was finished, I was pretty dehydrated. I had no energy and a headache kicked in later that afternoon. As I mentioned above, I am just getting over it right now. You’d be surprised how little motivation you have to do anything other than lay there when you have one of these headaches.
I figured that it was high time to do something about this. I needed to get some sort of a sports drink that would rehydrate me as well as give me all that other stuff people talk about all the time. I also need to get myself a larger container for my drink.
I just finished ordering some “CytoSport Cytomax Sport Energy Drink” from Amazon. It was around $27 with free shipping. I am going to see how this stuff does. I am hoping that it, combined with a larger drink container, will cure me of my ails.
