Close-Up Pictures Of a Deer Fly

June 14, 2012

I was walking around the lawn this evening, inspecting all the lush foliage this Spring has produced. It’s quite the jungle out there. As I was walking, I had a Deer Fly or two buzzing around my head. I’m sure you know how annoying Deer Flies can be. If you don’t, trust me when I say this – there are few insects as annoying as the Deer Fly. It flies around your face in attempt to find someplace to land. When it does, if you don’t get it off, it’ll bite you. Horrid creatures.

Well, today was a great day for me because as I was walking, a Deer Fly happened to land on my head. I quickly slapped it and it fell to the ground. Stunned, I’m sure. Moments later, another one buzzed around my head and landed on my cheek. I smacked it and watched that one fall to the ground as well. Getting two Deer Flies moments apart from one another is rarely heard of this side of the river. It’s true.

Anyway, as I looked down to the ground, I noticed how interesting the Deer Fly looked. And then I remembered that I am a budding photographer. So, I ran into the house and got the camera to do a nice little staging event with the stunned Deer Fly. The results are below.
