There are many different types of footwear available, but if you live in the elements and enjoy winter hiking, you’ll need a specific type; a good pair of hiking boots. While this type of boot is plentiful, they oftentimes come at a price. A very steep one. Stop in to read about my experiences buying and wearing various types of boot and how they faired in the field. I also discuss accessories that go along with the boots themselves.
I like to write about style, whether that style have to do with clothing, footwear, cigar smoking, or drinking the finest bourbons. It can even have to do with architecture, if interesting enough. What is style? It's the juncture between how something appears and how that something performs, based upon its intended function. You'll know it when you see it an feel it. For instance - say you visit Savile Row in London, England to have a custom suit tailored by Huntsman or Anderson & Sheppard. You spend hours being fitted and weeks waiting for your suit. Once you try it on and are happy with it, you've experienced something of "style." It's of the highest quality and the performance of that suit will be unparalleled. This is what I like to write about here. I'll entertain you, give you names and prices, and leave you links so you can find exactly what I'm referring to.
This is a collection of posts that cover our Christmases since Laura and I have moved to Maine. They are in no particular order. —– I must say, this was probably one of the best Christmases of my life. I’ve learned some valuable lessons over the past year that I’d like to share with you […]
Well, I finally bought them. Our recent frigid temperatures drove me to place an order on Amazon for my new Baffin Impact snow boots. And just as luck would have it, I made the order on Cyber Monday and received 30% off the price of the purchase. Isn’t that some goodness? These boots remind me […]
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always enjoyed making things out of wood. I’m talking about small things here – not large ones like sheds or houses or barns. More along the lines of tables, bed frames, small area fences, etc…The thing is, for as long as I can remember, I’ve never really […]
If there’s one thing you truly need while living in Central, Northern or Western Maine, it’s a good pair of boots. I’m not sure how rugged Downeast Maine is, so I can’t comment on that. But from what I’ve seen so far in the above areas, you’re going to end of doing dirty business in […]
Man, I feel like it’s been such a long time. I’ve been tied up with all sorts of stuff, one being my new adventure with the guitar. I’ve been at it now for just over two months. I have been practicing every day between a half hour and an hour and fifteen minutes. It was […]
I call it Uncorked and it’s the best movie you’ll never see. Writing during the Winter months isn’t the easiest thing to do. If you’ll notice, many blogs across the land have slowed down. There isn’t much to say. I suppose there’s the occasional snowstorm to discuss, but they get old after a while. All […]
Have you ever met anyone who was cooler than you are? No, I mean much cooler than you are. Day in, day out, we meet all types of people. The people we meet are generally what we are used to…people who are in the hardware store, the grocery store…people we see driving around on the […]
