Ramblings & Opinion

Some of my best posts can be found in this category. I ramble and I opine. That's what I do. I absolutely try to stay away from politics though. There's no faster method for losing a reader than to offer a political opinion - on anything. Otherwise, I discuss philosophy, books that I've read, my thoughts on the state of the world, some passive aggressive thoughts and ideas regarding friends of mine, wonderful stories woven into lessons I feel I need to share, as well as other silly topics that I'm sure no one else on the planet cares about besides me.

Memories of Brewster

June 8, 2020

I was lying in bed this morning thinking of my hometown of Brewster, New York. It seems that every time I do this, my recollection of waking up to sunshine some time in July, only to walk out the front door onto the sidewalk, comes to mind. I can recall doing this over and over […]

The Funniest Things That Ever Happened in my Life

December 24, 2014

Back Porch of House in Oneonta, NY

I was talking to a friend last week when I told him about some old posts I wrote a long time ago. If I remember correctly, they were written in 2007 and 2008. Boy, I’ve been doing this a while. Jeesh… Anyway, I told me friend that the posts had to do with the funniest […]

The Wonderful Introvert

September 2, 2014

I found a video about a month ago and had intended to write a post about it, but apparently life got in the way. I began doing other things and unfortunately closed the browser window I had the page saved in. Last night, while searching through various TED talks, I stumbled across the video once […]

I Have Discovered My Life Goal

September 26, 2013

With only one day to spare, I have come to a decision. I’ve finally discovered, and admitted to myself, my life goal. The goal I’d like to die having completed. Now, I didn’t just come to this decision this morning. I’ve moved around for years, visiting a number of places around our country, loving, hating […]

An Allegory Of Happiness

August 23, 2013

Rose of Sharon

Among other things, I did a lot of work yesterday. I’ve been plodding away at the same project I mentioned I started about six months ago. It’s yet to bear fruit. I have reserved confidence that it still may. And if it does, the fog will lift and I’ll think again once more. During an […]

Life Is a Series of Course Corrections

July 24, 2013

It’s funny, every time Summer rolls around, I dream of taking very long vacations while snowmobiling in the Arctic and every time Winter rolls around, I dream of disappearing to some tropical island while laying on the beach all day. Unfortunately, I’m a forgetful person. I forget about about the humidity that Summer brings and […]

After Thursday Night’s Class

June 14, 2013

I’ve been having difficulty writing anything with much true “insight” on this blog lately. It seems that my motivation peaks directly after class, which is usually around 9:15PM, and then fades considerably every minute thereafter. I’ve said time and time again (as I did just last night) that I’ll post the hundred or so thoughts […]

An Update On This Whole Man and Crocs Thing

February 28, 2013

I don’t want to beat a dead horse here, but I seriously underestimated popular sentiment when it comes to this Crocs and dudes thing. I mean, just yesterday I was a lonely guy living in Connecticut who happened to be wearing a pair of rubber shoes – but today – BAM – public enemy number […]

Men Who Wear Crocs

February 27, 2013

Men’s Crocs

A few weeks ago, I had a little problem. I don’t have it anymore because I solved it, but up until a few weeks ago, it was driving me crazy. I like to wear slippers. No, not the big fuzzy ones that have stuffed animals attached to the fronts, but regular old, plain Jane slippers. […]

Self-Defeating Statements

December 23, 2012

A few days ago, I took a trip out to Martha’s Vineyard. We left Rhode Island on a ferry and arrived at the Vineyard about an hour and forty minutes later. It was a nice day. On the ferry, there were all sorts of characters. I’m sure you can imagine the bunch. From the golfers […]

A Good Measure of Virtue

December 23, 2012

A few weeks ago, I was doing a little research on the meaning of “Virtue.” This isn’t a word I use all too often (or ever), but have been noticing its use more and more around the internet. It’s fairly common for me to investigate something’s meaning if I feel it’s important to today’s world. […]

A Handbook For Ethics - Traits of Entrepreneurs

As I mentioned in a recent post, I am reading a book called, “A Handbook For Ethics” by Robert C. Solomon. I am about a quarter of the way through it and am finding it very informative. You would laugh if you saw my task list. I am constantly jotting down ideas to write about; […]

USPS Tracking – Seriously?

December 10, 2009

Can I ask you a question? Why does USPS tracking exist? I mean c’mon. It doesn’t update at all. The word here is “tracking.” I would assume the system would “track” the package. Ya think? Well, not exactly. I’m sure that you all have ordered and have had packages delivered by FedEx and UPS. You […]

Happy Friday

August 21, 2009

I guess it really doesn’t matter if it’s Friday or not, we work seven days a week ’round these parts. Yeah, we should really stop that. Well, it’s kind of hard to stop working when it’s like 100 degrees and absolutely disgusting outside. I have been intermittently venturing out daily for some small landscaping projects. […]

What Does “LOL” Mean?

August 10, 2009

When I was writing my “Emails From Crazy People” post, I was like, “Man, my readers are totally going to love me for bringing them such uplifting humor.” I did. I really did. Well, while some people thought that emails from crazy people are funny, I got more action from writing LOL. Now, I’m not […]

Daylight Saving Time – Here We Go

March 8, 2009

Could this be a Daffodil sprouting?
