On the way to my class this morning, I decided to call Rob. I pulled his name up on my phone and listened to it ring. After a few rings, I got his voicemail. I know he sent me to voicemail, but I’ll save that for a conversation between just the two of us. Even […]
Pets & Animals
I am no where near short on experience when it comes to living with and caring for pets and other animals. Together, Laura and I have owned and adopted three or four dogs, about six cats, newts, iguanas, fish, and probably a few other things. All of our animals have been very well taken care of and some have required vet visits and extensive home care. I'll talk about all of this in this category. As far as wildlife goes, we currently live in Western Maine, so there's no shortage of that here. I'll write about it as I see it and if you browse through my older posts, you're bound to see many stories and experiences stemming from a few of our earlier residences.
Bird Nests With Baby Birds Under Porch
It’s that time of year again. Time to take a whole bunch of pictures of the baby birds living under the porch and see which ones come out okay. I was wondering if these bird families were going to come back this year. Well, they are probably new families, but you get the picture. We […]
Raccoons In The Attic
I am going to tell you a little story. Yeah, I thought you would appreciate that, especially since things have been a little dry around here lately. First, I must apologize for not offering any photos of the occasion. Laura has been swearing to me that she took pictures of the whole thing and that […]
Cats In Their New Beds
This is just hilarious. Of course, it’s not as captivating as my recent beer posts, but at least it’s humorous. Those cats. For the longest time, we have been dealing with only owning one cat bed. When you have three cats and one cat bed, the conditions are ripe for a fight. We didn’t have […]
Dog In Bathtub During Thunderstorm
Whenever it starts to even think about thundering outside, our beloved dog, Holly, starts pacing around frantically. She pants and walks, pants and walks. She really doesn’t know where she is going, but she know she wants to get there fast. Poor dog. Laura seems to think this whole issue is caused from an event […]
Bird Nest Under the Porch
There are actually two different bird nests under the back porch. I look at them almost every time I walk by. The parent birds like to whiz by my head to scare the heck out of me. Actually, I am just writing that for entertainment, I really don’t get scared by birds, even if they […]
Simon In His Punishment Suit
Our cat, Simon, has some mental problems. He usually sleeps, but sometimes he fights with the other cats for no reason. He also eats too much. Sometimes, he has his way with articles of clothing or my winter hats. It is an odd scene. I have this neck warmer that I sometimes wear as a […]
When Dogs Attack
Laura and I decided to go for one of our nice walks again today. The temperature was in the 40s, so we figured it would be nice to get out of the house. We went out to the driveway and I remembered that I forget my pepper spray for the bear. I usually bring a […]
Half in the Bag for New Year’s Eve
No, this isn’t about drinking, but I knew you would think that. I have this pillow case…and decided to use it on a certain someone. I had to find someone who wouldn’t care if I shoved their body in it. I found that someone in Simon. Yes, he is a good cat and was a […]
The Deer Ate My Crabapple Trees
I know, I know, I complain about the same thing every year. I kept forgetting to spray my three new crabapple trees with the Liquid Fence deer repellent spray. I sprayed them before, but it seems like every time I do, there are heavy rain showers. Even though the spray claims to stay on in […]
The Animals of Punta Cana
Ok, only three posts about Punta Cana left and that’s it. My fingers are getting tired. During our short trip, we saw many different animals that were pretty foreign to us. After all, I have never actually seen a real Pink Flamingo in our front yard. I am just going to post the pictures with […]
What’s Wrong With This Picture?
Please take a look at this photo and let me know if you see anything that shouldn’t be there. If you can’t find what you are looking for, just take a look at the second photo. I’ll give you a hint…it’s not the pasta sauce, the sugar or the baking soda. Ok, here’s the answer… […]
Simon in the Cat Hammock
I had to get this picture in here for my loyal reading fans. I took it this morning…it is Simon the cat in his new hammock. When Stephanie visited earlier in the week, she came bearing gifts. One of them was a brownie that I ate this morning and the other was this cat hammock. […]
How To Catch a Mouse in the House
For the past few weeks, I have been engaged in a fierce battle with a mouse in our house. An evil vermin, if you will. Recently, our cats have been sitting quietly on the kitchen floor, staring at the lower cabinets. Laura claimed there was a mouse in there, but I hesitated to believe her. […]
