Every Easter, Laura and I try to go to dinner at “Fife’n Drum” restaurant in Kent, CT and then hiking down at Bull’s Bridge. This has become a little tradition for us. It gives us something to look forward to during this time of year. Yesterday was pretty fun. We got into Millbrook and took […]
Hiking & Walking
Laura and I have lived in New York, Connecticut, Florida, and Maine and while in each one of these fine states, we've hiked some of the best trails and walked on some of the finest roads, whether it be in state or town parks, in the wild, or on lonely dirt paths. During our travels, we've taken lots of photos and have shared even more stories. That's what I'd like to do here - share both pictures and our experiences. We currently live in Maine, where there's no shortage of incredible hikes and dirt roads to nowhere. From river valleys to mountain tops, I'll try with all my might to bring you along. In this category, you can expect to see some of my best photography, hiking and walking location descriptions, as well as what we were thinking while we were enjoying our outdoor adventures.
Sam’s Point Preserve – A Christmas Hike
We have a new Christmas tradition in our house. We are going to go for a hike. Now, I completely understand that this may be a one year tradition because this year’s Christmas tempurature was in the 50s, but if this Global Warming thing is correct, there may be a few more years to go. […]
The Hidden Waterfall in the Ridge
I went up to Paul’s house this past weekend to pick up some fiberglass insulation he wanted to get rid of. Perfect! I needed a few pieces to finish up the basement. We decided to make a half-day of the visit and take a hike to the hidden waterfall in the Ridge. There was a […]
Hiking at the Pawling Nature Reserve
When you think you are getting in a rut with your life, one way to climb out of it is to go for a walk every evening. Make sure it lasts an hour or more. You don’t have to power-walk or do it for exercise…just do it for the pleasure of getting out of the […]
Hiking at the Sharon Audubon Center, CT
Well, browsing might be a better word for it. We couldn’t really hike because the trails up in back were very muddy from the rain the night before. It’s just as well, because we got to spend more time in front looking through the butterfly gardens and at the animals. What a surprise! This place […]
The Annual “Dogswalk Against Cancer” at Bear Mountain State Park, NY
This year, Bear Mountain’s “Dogswalk Against Cancer” was held on May 7. We go every year with Laur’a parents and the dogs that we have. Last year, we went with Mickey and Holly and the year before we brought along Bessy (aka Low Rider). We lost Mickey last year due to some sort of a […]
Hiking at Minnewaska State Park
Welcome to one of the wonders of the world…well almost. It should be anyway. Early this Spring, Laura and I decided to take our first motorcycle ride through the ridge. It was one of the first nice warm days of the year, so it was perfect for the type of ride we wanted to take. […]
