I’m not sure when it happened. Probably about a year or two ago. I decided that I was finished with reading and that I would only listen to audio books for the rest of my life. What prompted this decision was anger at all the fake book reviews on Amazon. It seemed like everywhere I […]
Entertainment
I've got many different hobbies, but some of my favorites revolve around listening to music, watching movies, and learning how to play guitar. My favorite type of music is New Wave and New Romantic from the early to mid 80s and I currently play a Martin DRS2 Road Series guitar. I've been playing guitar on and off since 2012 and have begun practicing in earnest in 2018. As far as music goes, I own an Onkyo stereo receiver along with some Polk and Klipsch speakers. In this category, I write about my musings on various music genres as well as a few movie reviews and thoughts about my playing the guitar, among other things.
The Mystery Of the Hidden Room by Marion Harvey
I’ve only been reading this book since last week and I’m already 30% finished with it. I can’t tell how many pages the book has because I’m reading the Kindle Edition on my Droid. The app does though, have a nice “percentage” meter that tells me how far I’ve got to go. I will say […]
Napoleon Dynamite – Ending Scene
One of my favorite movies of all time is Napoleon Dynamite. I know, I know…either you love this movie or you don’t. I happen to love it and I’ll let you in on a little secret. The more you watch it, the more you notice. By the twentieth time, you’ll appreciate the movie a heck […]
Learning To Play the Guitar
Man, I feel like it’s been such a long time. I’ve been tied up with all sorts of stuff, one being my new adventure with the guitar. I’ve been at it now for just over two months. I have been practicing every day between a half hour and an hour and fifteen minutes. It was […]
Tears For Fears – Woman In Chains Featuring Oleta Adams
A long, long time ago, my brother went away to college. He left behind many items and gave me explicit instructions to use them as I wish. Over the years, I have. One cluster of items he left behind was a stack of CDs. To this day, he says I stole them. I keep telling […]
A Brave New World and The Fountainhead
I read a paragraph in The Fountainhead a few nights ago that made me recall the last chapter of Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World.” It had to do with self punishment. Well, after thinking about it for two or so days, that’s what I came up with. From The Fountainhead: Sometimes, not often, he sat […]
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
I am currently reading “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand. Before I begin, you should really watch this interview so you can get a picture of what Ayn Rand’s personality is like: Ayn Rand Mike Wallace Interview 1959 part 1 Ayn Rand Mike Wallace Interview 1959 part 2 Did you watch it? Good. The Fountainhead was […]
At Sachem Farm, Higher Love, Trade Winds and Uncorked
I call it Uncorked and it’s the best movie you’ll never see. Writing during the Winter months isn’t the easiest thing to do. If you’ll notice, many blogs across the land have slowed down. There isn’t much to say. I suppose there’s the occasional snowstorm to discuss, but they get old after a while. All […]
Atlas Shrugged Part 1 – Opens In Theaters April 15th
This is pretty exciting. Atlas Shrugged, the movie, is actually going to happen. It’s one of those things you hold your breath for and wait for something to derail it (no pun intended). I am almost finished with my ethics book and have some opinions on it. Actually, I have some opinions on everything, but […]
Atlas Shrugged – Part 3 – A is A
I think we are getting somewhere. I am on Part 3 of Atlas Shrugged and am thrilled that I have taken this book on. Like many people out there, I used to look at thick books and get discouraged. I didn’t think I would ever be able to finish them. Now, I realize that the […]
Peter Mulvey and Brianna Lane at Infinity Hall
Have you ever met anyone who was cooler than you are? No, I mean much cooler than you are. Day in, day out, we meet all types of people. The people we meet are generally what we are used to…people who are in the hardware store, the grocery store…people we see driving around on the […]
Duran Duran – MGM Grand at Foxwoods
As I wrote in my last post, we did a bunch of stuff this weekend, but what I didn’t mention was what we did exactly. Do you know of Duran Duran? If you are over the age of…let’s see…4 years old, you probably do. Duran Duran is one of those groups that everyone loves. They […]
