If there’s one thing I have learned so far in my life, it’s that perspective plays a large part in daily thought and activity.
There are so many things that have to do with perspective, so many choices based on it. Yet so many people lose it or never even had it in the first place. Well, a healthy one that is.
Today’s thought: People and their problems.
As I say day in and day out, “You can’t get caught up in other people’s issues. Don’t let them make their problem yours.” I know it’s difficult because our friends and neighbors love nothing other than to discuss what ails them and to offer you the chance to occupy your mind with something similar. Walking away from the problems other people have created for themselves is a challenge in itself.
Society is tough to deal with. It wants you. It doesn’t want you to be alone. If you are gone for too long, people will start looking for you. If you withdraw, it will wrap it’s warm arms around you in attempt to change your mind. I often wonder if things are this way because people don’t want you to be alone or they, themselves, don’t want to be alone.
Carl Sagan is an interesting man. Below is a video that offers a bit of perspective that we lose all the time. Or, as I said above, perspective that we never had. Just think how things would be different if we actually thought of ourselves as we really are.
