I’ve had a long standing goal of one day finding myself escaping a wind driven snowy street at night, only to end up sitting in a warm pub sipping a Guinness. It’s one of those things. I don’t know where I came up with the idea, but I always liked it. It’s sort of natural.
I’ve been to a few restaurants and bars in my day that would fit the bill. The first is Widow Bingham’s Tavern at the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, MA. The second is the bar at the Old Drover’s Inn in Dover, NY. The Old Drover’s Inn is no longer open, so I guess that one’s not going to work out anymore, but if I’m ever in the Berkshires again, I’ll be sure to stop by the Red Lion Inn. It’s one of my favorite places in the world.
I was poking around online yesterday in search of more taverns and pubs that might look like something I’d like to eventually visit. I think I was mostly after a certain ambiance – something dark, rich and mysterious. Something created by someone who appreciates the same types of things I do. And luckily, I found such a place.
Check this out. I’m going to post a video below that shows “The Black Stuff Irish Pub” in Olomouc. It’s pretty good and if you’re into dark beer and awesome places, such as I am, you’ll really like this. Funny how I found it so quickly. It seems like I hit the nail on the head.
