This Blog is No One Way Street

I was just thinking, I should be getting more comments on this blog. I was taking a look at my stats last night and traffic has tripled from about a year ago. Have the comments tripled? Probably, but it doesn’t seem like they did.
It’s like business…nothing is ever good enough. You can make the “holy cow” ten billion dollar sale, but what did you really do? You just made the next ten billion dollar sale a little less exciting. I get comments and I thank you for them, but here is what I really want…
I want every single person who ever read this blog to comment on a post. Use a fake name, I don’t care. I like getting comments. They are fun to read and respond to, although, I am not the best responder. I get a kick out of when people try to push my buttons and say things that go against my grain. I am doing my part now I ask that you do yours.
Now, if I can just take my own advice and start commenting on people’s blogs…

I read your blog all the time (and try to comment were I can). Keep up the good posts!

Jay. I’ve noticed that sometimes your comment totals (at the end of your posts) don’t always accurately show when a comment is there… just FYI

I have often thought the same thing about my blog. No matter how well it’s doing, it is never “good enough” and I want more.

Thank you both for the nice comments. I will check on that comment number thing. I haven’t noticed it. Also, always wanting more is the sign of a good businessman. Perhaps you will soon “own” your area with your business.

I try to comment where I feel the need to comment. If I love the post or I can relate to it I will comment, otherwise I just feel like if you have nothing good to say don’t spam the blog with crap comments.
Anyway, I just started by blog 2 months ago and I would love to see more comments, but I know it’s young and it takes time. Right now besides Paul, You, You being other people, and myself, there is no one else commenting.
I did notice that when I post some computer tech stuff, my stats go way up on that post. The repairing a dell laptop post I did has gotten over 50 unique visits and a pingback already, nearest post to that is 13 visits, and its probably me checking it from client sites I go to!

Only you, Jay, Only you. You have 5 comments of your mailbox being level - I think enough is enough already!

Joe, It takes time to build an “loyal readership” (those are the ones that normally comment). I have been blogging for almost two years, sometimes I scratch my head because a seemingly well thought out post gets ignored. Other times I am amazed that something I banged out in two minutes gets such a good response. Hang in there, it will come.

I have already noticed a steady increase for the blog and I am happy to see it grow. I know everything on the internet takes time to gain traffic. I don’t know what happened the other day, I had over 50 unique visits when my normal average is 2 or 3. Right now I am averaging 4-10 a day, much better than the 1(me) that it was in the beginning. I’m just happy it hasn’t blown up and it’s been working great so far. Hopefully soon I will build my tech blog/forum and post some good stuff there. I know a lot of tips and tricks but no where to put them! You’ll see…

Keep writing. It takes a while. I remember the first time I showed my mother my blog. She asked, “Where are the pictures?” I was wondering what the heck anyone wanted pictures for.
Remember to add lots of pictures. That’s what a lot of people come to your blog for.

I may not comment, but believe me, I DO READ YOUR BLOG!

This is actually my first time reading your blog (I got here by way of a search for the Tribute Gardens in Millbrook, which ironically was found because of a COMMENT to that post), and I’m going to be a good little blog reader and leave you a comment like you asked AND I’m going to check out the rest of your blog.

After poking around I see that we have something in common - DH graduated from BU in 1996 with a Comp Sci degree. He transferred there so we were only in Bingotown for 2 years. Our first year there we lived in the armpit of downtown Binghamton ’cause it was all we could afford as newlyweds starting our lives with only a few pennies to rub together to keep us warm. I should post some stories from living in the city on my own blog except that I think some of our old friends from there may read my blog…heh. Hopefully you lived in a nicer area. We did live in Vestal the second year that we were there, which was much better except for the fact that our apt. had electric heat which we pretty much couldn’t afford to ever use. Not that it was ever cold in Binghamton anyway…ha…
Don’t worry, it all worked out in the end - now we own a big fancy house and are livin’ the life of Riley.
