Postage Stamp Price Increase

May 15, 2008 – 3:25 pm | by jaygaulardcom

Oh, I’m on a tear this afternoon.

As it so happens, I purchased two new books of stamps this morning. I noticed the price of each stamp increased to 42 cents. I really didn’t take too much notice of the price, because I can never keep up with the seemingly eternal miniscule price increases the keep throwing at us.

This afternoon, I put three letters in the new mailbox to go out. After a while, I walked up to the new (and level) mailbox to retrieve today’s mail. There was a little note from the human indicating that postage had gone up to 42 cents. I got a little perturbed.

I walked inside and told Laura about the whole fiasco, from dropping off the letters at the new mailbox to gathering today’s mail from the level mailbox (I am going to get this thing run over…I know). It’s not the price increase that gets to me, it’s the damn one cent stamps that we have to keep using. Here’s what I am saying…make up your #$%& minds. I told Laura they should just raise the damn price to a buck and get it over with. Never raise it again. One cent here, two cents there. Do the geniuses at the really think the public wants to deal with figuring out the as their past time?

I know I am making a bigger deal out of this than it really is, and that I could always go buy the “,” but really…just raise it like ten cents and leave us along for a few years.

Trust me, I am well aware of my shortcomings when it comes to getting excited about things like this. You have to admit though, these little blog posts are kind of funny.

I agree completely. I HATE the USPS. I used to sell a lot of items on eBay and had to deal with them constantly. They always complained about writing on the side of the box. Apparently you have to ship it in a plain box or sharpie out every last little mark. This always killed me because good shipping companies like UPS and FedEx don’t give a crap.

What also killed me was how they complained about how I used UPS boxes turned inside out and shipped them. Oh, and the fact that I needed plain white labels to put the address on, well I cut off the Priority Mail part of a label so it was just plain white….guess what, they bitched at that as well, even know it was a plain white label now!!

If postage keeps going up I will ship my letters by UPS or FedEx. At least I know my letter will get there and it won’t take more than a month. Don’t you love that? We put letters in mailboxes and then we all hope our bills reach its destination on time. USPS give times like 2-24 days for delivery. What is that like a guess?? Get with the times and track your crap. UPS and FedEX guarantee their delivery times, and it’s really not that much more expensive if shipping a package.

Have you ever seen a DHL guy come into an office and fly through twelve packages in about 35 seconds? Have you ever gone into a post office and spent about 20 minutes trying to buy a book of stamps?

Who are these people they are hiring? And it’s like they are doing us a favor or something.

It’s all because it’s a Federal business. The government is so lazy, and yet they get paid really well and have awesome benefits….WHY WHY WHY, they are lazy as all hell and suck at their jobs. I buy stamps at the grocery store now because I would rather drive that extra 10 minutes to get there and get the stamps rather than waiting on line forever, then get someone with an attitude, or a moron that takes 20 years to get a book of stamps and ring you out.

Why do the guys that stand on the road holding the flags to stop/wave traffic on in a construction zone get paid $19.00/hr ??????? We could train a monkey to do this. I don’t even make that much.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the “Forever Stamp” cost 42 cents each. That is what I just ordered.
