The Good News and Bad News About My Coopers Stout

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Well, the good news is that my bottle works great. I couldn’t resist and cracked a bottle open today. I heard the little, “sssst” that tells me the bottle was sealed. That’s good.

The is that when I poured the bottle of into my glass, it had a “scent” to it. It kind of smelled like . Not much, but enough to make me give it a taste. The wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t like it was supposed to be. After I poured it, there was a head to it, but definitely not like the Lager from the previous batch. I poured the bottle down the drain. Now, mind you, I have only had this batch bottled for a week and a half.

UPDATE - I was just looking for someone else who experienced the smell in so I could link to it and came across this forum. Apparently, they are saying, “It’s just the yeast…let it age out.” To think, I was going to come home today and dump 63 of down the drain.

I’ll let the age out for a few more weeks and see what happens. I will be sure to update you.

Wolaver’s Oatmeal Stout

I have some good news and about my batch of . I will tell you about it in my next post. For this post, I would like to tell you about a I picked up today. Well, actually there are two types of , but this post is only about one.

This morning, we were sitting on the , when I said, “If we were to do something today, what would you want to do?” I really didn’t have anything in mind, I was just curious. I was happy sitting around all day. Well, to make a long story short, we ended up at Place in again. I know I said before that I was getting a little tired of the up there, but the combination of the getting out of the house, , and bagels gets me every time. So there we were.

We did get a bunch of today. I thought it would be a good idea to mix things up, so we got a bunch of veggie , like a lot of rolls with in them. I am excited for later. As usual, I grabbed some bagels. On the way to the bagel area, I passed . I have never (that I know of) eaten before. I asked Laura if she wanted to get some, when I remembered that I bought her that new KitchenAid mixer for her birthday. There is an attachment that goes with it that makes pasta. Now, you know that went on my to-do list. We voted against the for today.

What this post is really about is the new I got. I picked up a 6-pack of Wolaver’s Oatmeal Stout and wanted to tell you all about it.

Why am I buying ? I’ll tell you about that later. Anyway, this one is pretty good. I cracked the bottle open and poured it in my trusted glass. It poured like a nice dark and tastes kind of like one too. I would say this is a very good one that might be appreciated by people who like dark , but a bit lighter than the rest. It has a “thinner” taste and doesn’t overpower you like that I have had. This is a very drinkable and I would buy it again.

There you have it. Now, for my story, please see above.

Mayflower Inn, Washington, CT

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Laura and I decided to get in the and visit , yesterday. What was the destination? Well, no less than the Mayflower Inn & Spa in , .

As I mentioned in one of my previous blog posts, my mother purchased a for us a few years ago for the . If memory serves me correctly, we used it for a Valentine’s Day dinner, but I may be wrong. It was either that or ’s . Anyway, we drove there at night and (even at night) really liked the area. We decided that it needed to be visited during the day.

Now, please let me explain…I am sure we have all heard of . Sure, we have heard of it, but have we ever really seen it? What we learned yesterday was that be merely driving through and really doesn’t count for visiting . There is a little corner of that, if visited, you can easily imagine some English dude sitting on a log with one of those white on. That is what , is like. You can also throw in too. They are both like that. There are more that are over old than you know what to do with. Needless to say, they are really cool towns. Pricey towns, I’m sure. What really struck us both yesterday, was the fact that we weren’t able to locate one messy property or piece of junk. The whole entire area was extremely clean, which made us feel very nice inside.

One of the things that really aggravates me is the lack of pictures and videos on the internet. Even on Earth, people would rather post videos of their kid’s , instead of videos of main st. in the town the is attached to. When I visit town , I expect to see some sort of or even a . You would be amazed at how few actually offer these features.

Since we visited the Inn yesterday and I happen to own a regular and a camera, we decided to use them. I took all the photos and Laura took half the . These are all just of the Inn and not the town. We’ll get to that. Enjoy!!!

Domain Name Ideas

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

You may be aware that I have come up with some funky in the past. I really don’t put all that much thought into them because my marketing doesn’t require catchy names. If I began marketing on television, perhaps I would ponder them for more than a day. Actually, back the day, “” and “Yahoo!” probably seems pretty silly.

I got an idea for another website this morning. I began my usual routine of coming up with a domain name. Then, I thought, “Why don’t I do a search for a website that gives ideas for just this?” So I did. I searched for “domain name ideas.” The first result was the “Domain Name Generator” at makewords.com. I messed around with it for a little while and got some ideas. I am not sure I am going to use any of them, but by using this website, you can see what is still available and what’s not. You can also do some in depth research on any domain name.

I just thought I would share this with you. No thank yous necessary.
