Installing Dreamweaver CS3

I went to Staples today to get the latest version of Adobe Dreamweaver, which is Dreamweaver CS3.
Just to let you know, I only bought this software after I searched online for open source alternatives to Dreamweaver. I think I came across the top alternatives, but each one had a fault that I didn’t really like. The top choice had a review. The software’s downfall was that it liked to change your code for you, which really isn’t cool. Dreamweaver actually brags about not doing that.
The reason I was looking for alternatives was because the $399 price tag seemed a little hefty for a web editing application. The upgrades are only about $199, so that’s what I will be doing from now on.
I installed the software and gave it a run. Wow, it seemed just like the 2004 version. I am assuming there are a bunch of new features in there, but I most likely won’t use them. I am not into building websites from scratch anymore. There is one thing though…it seems slower than the older version. That could be the Adobe influence of it. Geeez, I remember trying to open GoLive. For big sites, it took a few minutes. But then again, it could be Vista. Everything seems slower in Vista. I noticed that the minute I turned this computer on the day I got it.
I will let you know how it goes.

It isn’t Vista that sucks, but the hardware you have running it. It runs in amazing fashion on my Dell Latitude D820.
As far as CS3, I would say that it general it is slower than previous versions, especially Photoshop. There are plenty of new features, you just have to read the documentation.

No, I think you are wrong about that. Sorry. My hardware is good.
About those new features in CS3, yes, as I said above, I assumed they were in there. Thank you.

Brent is right, Dreamweaver CS3 is not slower for me and there are heaps of usefull and much needed new features, dreamweaver is for advanced web designers, so if your just using the basic tools in dreamweaver cs3 thats proberly why you cant see the difference, Dreamweaver CS3 lets me update my website ‘live’ in dreamwaeaver, and creates java buttons that look very specky.
I think the issue is that you havent upgraded your pc for a while, or that your running on older hardware.

Actually, this is a brand new computer with beefed up hardware. I think the issue is Vista that is making everything slower. For me, Vista runs like Windows 98…needing reboots every so often. It also like to just “hang” every once in a while. When I open Photoshop…yup, gotta wait then too.
You can’t dispute that Vista is slower than XP and has more issues too. I am not sure why people keep blaming this on hardware. If we all need space shuttle equivalent hardware for our computers, what good is that?
