I read this great article I found on Digg this afternoon. I thought I would share it with you. It’s title is…”Tricks to Keep Your House Cool this Summer.” Check it out.
I am going to think about the white shades (cheap) as well as planting a tree in front of the window AC unit.

There is one more thing related to basements for those lucky enough to have a home with central air and a basement. I had a modification to my furnace done that effectively adds a separate return air duct, which pulls in the cold air from my basement and mixes that with the air from the return duct upstairs by a company called Powerzoning. This evens out the temperatures in my home, and winds up with my AC running less since the home is keeping cool naturally.
